Lawyers hold key to end corruption in judiciary – Justice RM Lodha


In a clarion call to lawyers, Supreme Court Judge, Justice RM Lodha urged them to extend full co-operation in eradicating corruption from judiciary, because according to him 90 percent of corruption in judiciary is due to the lawyers' own conduct. The judge was speaking here recently at a function officially arranged by the Bombay High Court to celebrate 150th year of its establishment. Justice Lodha has been Judge at the Bombay High Court for 13 years, till 2007.

In a function attended by Bombay High Court Chief Justice Mohit Shah, Kolkata High Court Chief Justice JN Patel, former Supreme Court Judge, Justice VS Sirpurkar, many sitting and retired judges of the High Court and members of the district judiciary here, Justice Lodha praised both the judiciary as well as members of the bar for progress of judicial system in the country.

On this occasion, Justice Lodha unveiled portraits of Justice Hidayatullah, Justice JR Mudholkar and Justice AP Sen from the High Court here, who adorned the Supreme Court bench in the past with distinction. He also felicitated all the former members of the High Court Bar Association, who were High Court judges and retired since then.
